Our AI Trainer, AI Role Plays, AI Coach, and AI Content Creator help organizations turn static documentation into personalized learning experiences that employees can speak with, practice against, and learn from.

Delivered through Microsoft Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, and the web — and available in 11 Indian languages — UpTroop helps organizations onboard faster, improve customer conversations, strengthen compliance, reduce manager coaching effort, and improve frontline performance at scale. The Challenge

‍Large enterprises don't struggle because they lack knowledge — they struggle because employees can't access, practice, and apply that knowledge at the moment of need. Every customer brings a different challenge:

• One wants to convert thousands of pages of SOPs into an AI trainer.
• Another wants multilingual voice role plays for thousands of relationship managers.
• Another wants AI to evaluate customer conversations and coach employees in real time.
• Another wants AI-generated simulations personalized to each learner's role.

The problems are real. The datasets are messy. The users are diverse. The scale is enterprise. That's where you come in.

About the Role

‍We're looking for an AI Engineer who enjoys building production AI systems — not prototypes. You'll work directly with the founders to design, build, evaluate, and continuously improve the intelligence behind every UpTroop experience. From retrieval pipelines and conversational agents to multilingual voice interactions and automated evaluations, you'll own systems that are used daily by enterprise customers. This isn't a research role hidden behind papers and notebooks — you'll ship production AI that directly impacts how thousands of frontline employees learn, practice, and perform.

What You'll Build

Build AI that learns from enterprise knowledge

• Design intelligent pipelines that transform PDFs, PowerPoints, SOPs, policy documents, videos, and structured content into interactive AI learning experiences.
• Build retrieval systems that understand enterprise context instead of simply retrieving documents.
• Improve semantic search, chunking strategies, metadata enrichment, reranking, and knowledge grounding.

Build conversational AI experiences

Design the intelligence behind AI Trainer, AI Role Plays, AI Coach, and AI Content Creator. You'll create experiences that can:

• Hold realistic conversations.
• Ask intelligent follow-up questions.
• Challenge learners based on performance.
• Coach users with personalized feedback.
• Adapt conversations dynamically.
• Support multilingual and voice-first interactions.

Build production-grade AI systems

• Design and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Build agentic workflows using MCP and multi-agent orchestration.
• Experiment with different prompting strategies, reasoning patterns, and tool use.
• Integrate leading foundation models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, and open-source ecosystems.
• Decide which model is best suited for each customer workflow based on quality, latency, reliability, and cost.

Build evaluation systems

Great AI products aren't built by intuition — they're built through measurement. You'll design evaluation frameworks that continuously answer questions like: Did response quality improve? Did hallucinations reduce? Is coaching becoming more personalized? Are role plays becoming more realistic? Which prompts perform better? Which models deliver the best customer outcomes? You'll own the evaluation pipeline — not just the prompts.

Build the AI platform

You'll help build the foundation that powers every AI feature at UpTroop, including prompt management, LLMOps, model routing, cost optimization, observability, tracing, guardrails, AI safety, experimentation frameworks, performance benchmarking, and production monitoring.

Work across the entire product

Your work won't live inside isolated notebooks. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Customer Success to launch production features across Microsoft Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, web applications, and the Enterprise Admin Console. You'll see customer feedback within days — not months — and continuously improve the product based on real usage.

What We're Looking For

• 1+ years of experience building production AI or LLM-powered applications.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience building RAG pipelines and working with vector databases.
• Experience using LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, DSPy, or similar.
• Experience with prompt engineering, tool calling, function calling, and agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with model evaluation, benchmarking, and LLM observability.
• Experience integrating OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, or open-source LLMs.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and a production mindset.
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and rapidly shipping new ideas.

Bonus Points

• Experience with conversational AI.
• Experience building voice AI applications.
• Experience with speech-to-text and text-to-speech pipelines.
• Experience with multilingual AI systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams, Slack, or WhatsApp integrations.
• Experience with fine-tuning or reinforcement learning.
• Contributions to open-source AI projects.
